Anthony Vaughn
Owner/Manager
Anthony is a native of the Monticello and Wayne County area having grown up in the Coopersville community. He is married to his beloved wife Kami (Humble) Vaughn who helps in the business. They have one son, Noah Keen Vaughn, and one daughter, Ivy June Vaughn. He and his family attend the Monticello Church of Christ.
He graduated from Wayne County High School and then attended college at Eastern Kentucky University. Anthony attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science where he completed an Associate of Applied Science and a Bachelor's of Mortuary Science. He is a Kentucky licensed funeral director and embalmer. Along with this, he is also a licensed life & health insurance agent in Kentucky. His work experiences include service in the funeral profession both in Kentucky and Ohio. His experience in this field started with G.S.S.P. Livery Service in Cincinnati which worked with the Hamilton County Coroner's Office in the Cincinnati area.
Anthony came to the former Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in 2004. In 2009 he bought the business and operates it today under it's current name....Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.

Anthony Vaughn

Kami Vaughn

She is a 2004 graduate of Wayne County High School, a 2008 graduate of Somerset Community College, and is a Kentucky licensed funeral director. She and her family attend the Monticello Church of Christ.

Kami Vaughn

Israel Clark
Funeral Director and Embalmer
Israel Clark joined our firm on October 31st, 2022. He began his career at McCreary Funeral Home as a Funeral Assistant. Believing he had found his calling he began his Funeral Director’s apprenticeship. With the merge of McCreary Funeral Home and Pine Knot Funeral Home in 2014, he worked at both locations. Israel obtained his Funeral Director’s license in September 2017 and his Embalmer’s license in October of 2021.
Israel is the son of Israel and Loretta Clark. He and his wife, Amber have one daughter, Hazel. They attend Lower Wolf Creek United Baptist Church.

Sharon Kresen
Funeral Director/Administrative Assistant
Sharon is a native of Monticello, growing up in the Parnell community. She is the daughter of Rev. Odie & Gladys Hollars and the mother of Joshua and Charles Kresen. She is a member of the Piney Woods Mission Church.
After graduating from Wayne County High School, she moved out of the area, living in Tennessee, Connecticut, Maryland, and Ohio. After settling in Ohio, she attended Xavier University where she pursued a degree in Business Administration. In June 1999, she moved back to Monticello to be closer to her parents.
She joined the staff of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in June 2003 as the Administrative Assistant and continues in that role today with the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. Having a desire to do more for the families she met while employed at the funeral home, she decided in March 2009 to begin the process of becoming a licensed funeral director. In July of 2011, she completed the process and is now a Kentucky licensed funeral director.

Sharon Kresen
Funeral Director/Administrative Assistant

Kelly Perkins has been with the funeral home since March of 2012 and helps in many of the roles that it takes to keep the funeral home running smoothly.

Kameron Angel
Funeral Director
Kameron graduated from Wayne County High School in May 2020. He is the son of Matthew and September Angel and the older brother of Logan and Heavenly Angel. He joined our team as a Support Staff employee in August 2020 and then decided to serve his apprenticeship with Hickey Funeral Home. As of April 2024, Kameron is now a Kentucky licensed funeral director.

James Turner

James Turner, or "Butch" as most everyone in Monticello and Wayne County know him, is one of our funeral home support staff members as well as a licensed transport employee.
He has two children, Misty & Cody and two granddaughters, Callie Sky and Harley Dawn. Butch is native to the Monticello-Wayne County area.
For 22 plus years, Butch worked and was a manager at McDonalds of Monticello. These days he is a dedicated employee of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home and assists us in providing quality care to the families that call upon us.

James Turner

Harvey Smith

Harvey joined the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in August 2020. He currently works full time for Coca-Cola and assists both Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home and Hickey Funeral Home on a part-time basis as a licensed transport and support staff employee.

Mack Patrick
Support and Transport Staff
Bro. Mack Patrick joined our team in January 2025, as a part-time support staff employee. In June 2025, Bro. Mack became a licensed transporter for both Hickey Funeral Home and Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. He is a welcome addition to our team.
He is the son of Cauda Alley (Ray) and the late Carlos Mack Patrick and the brother of Nicholas Alley. Bro. Mack is the pastor at the Cabell Community Church.

Bro. Mack Patrick joined our team in January 2025, as a part-time support staff employee. In June 2025, Bro. Mack became a licensed transporter for both Hickey Funeral Home and Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. He is a welcome addition to our team.

Ronal or “Ron” as he is known by his family and friends, joined our Support Staff team in October 2023.
Ron is married to Julie and between the two of them, they have five children, Kevin, Jacob, Rachel, Bethany and Rhoda. Ron and Julie attend and are members of Monticello First Church of the Nazarene.

Elwood Bradley

Elwood began working with Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in August 2025. He has been faithfully working with inmates at the WC Detention Center for 28 years, helping in many different areas including Chaplain, Education, and Deputy Jailer. He was also employed with Adult Education Programs through the Wayne County Board of Education and Somerset Community College for 10 years. He retired from Crane Plumbing after 22 years. Elwood attended UK and EKU, achieving a BS in Criminal Justice with an AA in English. He is also an ordained Minister with a heart for others.
Elwood and his wife Laura have a total of 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren together. Elwood was born and raised in Pulaski County and has lived in Wayne County since 1996. He also is a Veteran having served in the US Army.

Bro. David joined our staff in October 2025. He and his wife, Sheila, have two children, Skylar Dishman and Sierra Price, and three grandchildren, Teagan Price, Dove Dishman, and River Dishman. He is the pastor at Pleasant Hill Union Church in Burkesville.

Rick Jones

Rick is a native of the Monticello - Wayne County area. He and his wife Joanna (Pennycuff) Jones have 4 children: Kelly, Samantha, Bryson, & Trevor and one grandson, Colton.
Rick is one of the longest serving employees of the funeral home. He began his work with the former Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in 1992 doing various jobs. Today, Rick is entrusted with the task of maintaining the grounds, building, and the funeral home's fleet of vehicles.

For the last 20 plus years, Kenny has handled the day to day cemetery operations for what is now known as the Hickey Funeral Home. Even though managing the work of both funeral homes keeps him very busy, he continues to provide excellent service to our families.

Gene has worked in the houseboat industry for 33 years and the Monticello Utility Commission for 10 years before retiring in 2015. For 22 of those years, he also served in the Army Reserves. After his retirement, he went to work part-time at the Hickey & Son Funeral Home as a funeral support staff. In November of 2019 he also joined the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home support staff team.

Forrest Hicks - (Deceased)
Funeral Director
Forrest is the son of Marvin and Mary Ann Hicks and is a 2nd generation Funeral Director and Embalmer. He is married to Susie Agee Hicks and has two sons, Daniel Hicks and Tyler Hicks and two grandsons, Milo Hicks and Hudson Hicks.
Forrest is a 1977 graduate of Monticello High School. He attended the University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University and Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Forrest has also served as Coroner of Wayne County and is a member of the Kentucky Coroner’s Association Board.

Forrest passed away November 20, 2025. Although he is no longer with us, we have constant reminders of his life and his legacy.

Earl Alley (Deceased)

Earl and his wife Barbara are long-time residents of Monticello. They have one son, Jeff Alley and one granddaughter, Taylor.
Earl is a 1959 graduate of Monticello High School. He and his family attend Living Faith Pentecostal Church in Monticello.
Even after his retirement, Earl was still very much a part of our team. Earl passed away August 12, 2022, but still lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
