Obituary

ZULA LEXIE PERKINS DAVIS was born on October 3, 1923 in the Oil Valley Community. She departed her earthly life on March 3, 2007 at the age of 83 years.

She was the daughter of Lige and Rosa Bates Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Lena Stelhorn, Nannie Kathryn Bell, and her brother, O. B. Perkins.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Clyde Davis; her children, Gene, Ralph, Kenny, Bruce, Sandy, and Gary; nine grandchildren, Susan, Angie, Shannon, Kellie, R.G., Brian, Jill, Danelle, and Justin; nine great grandchildren, Lauren, Kade, Davis, Dalton, Caroline, Emma, Noah, Reed, and Ben. She is also survived by one nephew, Shelby Floyd and on niece, Mary Alice Holloway

Zula was baptized into the Church of Christ and was a member of the congregation at Oil Valley for many years. In her later years she was a member of the congregation at Monticello where she attended as her health permitted.

Zula was affectionately know by her family as Mom, Mother, Ma-Ma Zula and Mrs. Davis.

Zula was blessed with a wonderful gift of remembrance. Until her last days she could quickly recall every birth date, anniversary, dates of death, addresses and phone numbers of family, friends, and neighbors.

Zula loved God, her country, her family, friends, bluegrass music, basketball, dogs, and flowers with passion.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


Visitation: Sunday, March 4th after 4 pm
Funeral Service: Monday, March 5th at 11 am
Interment: Elk Spring Cemetery
