Zella Dodson was born September 10, 1934 and departed this life Friday, January 8, 2021 reaching the age of 86 years. She was the daughter of John Melvin and Beatrice (Burnett) Baker.

She is survived by:  two sons, Gerald (Evana) Dodson and Johnnie (Anna) Dodson; four daughters, Linda (Michael) Hammond, Janet Coffey, Judy (Lindell) Gregory and Joyce (Mike) Crain; one sister, Marie Dodson; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

Zella was a foster parent who cared for over 100 foster kids in her home throughout the years.

In addition to her parents, John and Beatrice Baker, she was preceded in death by: one son, Randy Dodson; one brother, Mitchell Baker; one sister, Louise Cross; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 12, 2021 between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
