William E. Wells, Sr. was born March 11, 1913 and departed this life May 16, 2004 reaching the age of 91 years. He was the son of Joe Wells and Mary Bell Walker Wells.

He was united in marriage to Gertrude Yancey and to this union seven children were born.

He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Louise Meade of Dayton, OH; six sons, William Wells, Jr. of Monticello, KY, Joel Ray Wells of Dayton, OH, Irvin D. Wells of Germantown, OH, Richard Wells of Springfield, OH, Kenneth Allen Wells of Dayton, OH, and Robert S. Wells of Dayton, OH; seventeen grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Wells; his parents, Joe and Mary Wells; one brother, John Wells; one sister, Anna McAlister; several half brothers and sisters; and one great grandchild.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, relative,friend and respected member of the community, who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
