Obituary

William Luther "Bill" Hale, Sr. was born May 30th, 1929 in Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Wednesday, February 26th, 2003, reaching the age of 73 years. He was the son of Elmer Elam and Ina Abbott Hale Elam.

He was united in marriage to Lillie Ashing Hale on July 1, 1948 and to this union five children were born.

He is survived by his wife Lillie, two sons-William Hale, Jr. of Monticello, KY and Larry Hale of Mesa, Arizona and two daughters-Nancy Hale of Monticello, KY and Kathy Hale of Tonopah, Arizona. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, along with several relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son-Dennis Hale.

He served as pastor of Mt. Hope Mission Baptist Church from 1971-1973 and at South Main Missionary Baptist Church from 1997-1999.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.


Visitation: The family will receive friends after 5 PM on Thursday, February 27th, 2003 in the chapel of the funeral home.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Friday, February 28th, 2003 in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
