William Lyle Denney, 88, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023, in the Wayne County Hospital surrounded by family members and friends.

Lyle was born on April 25, 1934 to Roscoe and Flonnie Piercy Denney in Wayne County, Kentucky. After graduating from Wayne County High School in 1951, he got his first job with the Monticello Manufacturing Company, known to local residents as the 'Shirt Factory.' He loved it, quickly worked his way up to a management position, and would end up staying with the company for over forty years, eventually becoming the general manager and majority stockholder. The company grew to over 700 employees with three locations including Monticello, Stearns, and Marrowbone before closing in 2001. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Monticello Banking Company from 1993 to 2022.

He met and fell in love with Helen Frye and they were married on June 6, 1952, remaining close through all of life's ups and downs until his passing. Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe, and mother Flonnie. He is survived by his wife Helen, two children Michael (Donna) Denney and Sharon (Gary) Dishman; four grandchildren, Jacob (Shannon) Keeton, Lindsey (Stewart) Cooley, Patrick (Kristin) Denney, and Beth (Kevin) Cizmarik; and nine great-grandchildren, Maddie, Lauren and Drew Denney, Leah and Landry Keltner, Maximus Cizmarik, Kale and Kolin Keeton, and Owen Cooley.

Lyle was a lifelong member of Taylors Grove Baptist Church, accepting Christ as his savior at an early age. He had a lasting impact on his family and the community and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 13, 2023, between 5 pm - 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
