IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Hobert
Brown
January 15, 1928 – November 17, 2018
William Hobert Brown, reaching the age of 90 years old, entered into perfect peace on November 17, 2018 at Clinton County Nursing and Rehab in Albany, KY.
Hobert was born January 15, 1928 in Powersburg, KY to Austin and Ella Neal Brown, both precede him in death.
On July 25, 1964 he married Dorothy Faye Stinson and became an attentive and loving husband for 54 years. Their home was filled with love and kindness.
Hobert stood before several people 3 weeks ago on weak knees and with tear filled eyes gave his Christian testimony, in which he thanked God for saving his soul 80 years ago. He told the story of walking up the rocky path from his home to the church and getting saved. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and also a regular attendant of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. He was very active in both churches.
Hobert graduated from Cumberland College and Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in teaching. He taught school many years, including various one room schools, throughout the county. He took on several roles during his career such as 4-H leader, basketball coach, etc. He encouraged his students to learn and grow up to be "good" people. He earned the respect of his students as well as their parents.
Hobert and Faye had a lot of sickness through out their life, but neither of them gave up the fight. Thy strived to live for the lord and treasure each other as they spent all of their time together. He was a quiet man, but very friendly; he always had a handshake and a smile for everybody. People refer to Hobert as being a kind man, with a loving heart. A wonderful example of a Christian man.
Hobert was preceded in death by his special cousin, they grew up as brothers, Donald Brown, his wife, Nancy survives. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Emogene Stinson and Jane Hancock, his brother-in-law, Edwin Hancock. Surviving are his brother-in-law, Clay Stinson and brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Nina Stinson. Hobert had as much love for his family as if they were blood relatives.
As we each say our goodbyes with broken hearts, what a blessing he has been to each of us that we will treasure a lifetime. As we think back on Hobert's life what a privilege it has been to know him. Let us all remember the love and kindness he gave to each of us and strive to be a Christian as Hobert was.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
