William "David" Alley was born December 29, 1946, and departed this life Monday, December 18, 2023, reaching the age of 76 years. He was the son of the late Bascom "Batch" and Effie (Parmley) Alley.

He married Betty Faye Raines and to this union one child was born.

He is survived by: his wife, Betty Alley; one daughter, SuzAnne Williams; and one granddaughter, Chloe Williams. He is also survived by:  two sisters, Bernice Langdon (Maurice) and Joyce Alley; and one brother, Russell Alley (Sandra); along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother, Lonnie Earl Alley; and two sister, Thelma Alley and Margaret June Wilson.

David was a 1965 Monticello High School graduate. He went on to graduate from Cumberland University in 1969 and from EKU in 1973 with a master's degree in education. He taught Social Studies for Juniors and Seniors at Lincoln County High School for 32 years.  In 1981, he received the Teacher of the Year award. David and his family were very proud of all of his accomplishments.

He was baptized as a young man at Eller's Chapel Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2023, between 11 am – 12:30 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Graveside services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 1 pm at the Elk Spring Cemetery Shelter with burial to follow.
