Vida Hunter was born October 10, 1949, and departed this life Wednesday, September 13, 2023, reaching the age of 73 years. She was the daughter of the late James Hunter and Antha (Napier) Hunter.

She is survived by: one son, Thomas R. Hunter; one daughter, Aretha Hunter; and numerous grandchildren. She is also survived by:  four sisters, Lena (Alonzo) Allen, Mary (Willie) Garrett, Martha (Greg) Chaney, and Dorothy Garth; and one brother, Cecil (Shirley) Garth; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one son, Paul Hunter; grandchildren, Jessica Hunter and Aniyah Hunter; seven brothers, Regial Hunter, Billie Joe Hunter, James Harden Hunter, Sterling Hunter, Danny Hunter, Wilburn Hunter, and James Lewis Hunter; and two sisters, Gladys Hunter and Margie Garth.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 between 12 pm – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Monticello Cemetery.
