Obituary
Vernie Whitaker, age 85, of Monticello, passed away January 20, 2014. He was the son of the late John and Easter (Bellamy) Whitaker.
He is survived by: his wife, Billie Whitaker of Monticello; one son, James Whitaker of Monticello; one step-son, John Stinson of Florida; one sister, Gloria of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. He retired from General Motors in Ohio and moved to Kentucky, where he enjoyed fishing on Lake Cumberland.
He will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends, but not forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to:

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 5-9 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1 pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
