Veola Katherine Burks Pennington was born December 3, 1932 and departed this life Saturday, January 5, 2013 reaching the age of 80. She was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Southwood) Burks.

She is survived by: her husband, Eldon "Cotton" Pennington of Monticello, KY; 1 brother, Jack (Lena) Burks of Monticello, KY; and 1 sister, Mary Vivian Dodson of Monticello, KY; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, James and Alice Burks, she was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Robert and Jim Burks; and 2 sisters, Ruth Hicks and Vena Piercy.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 6 – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Harlan Ogle and Bro. Bob Duranceau officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
