Velma Ruth Gossage

Velma Ruth Gossage began her life on August 9, 1932 in the Eadsville community in Wayne County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Elbert and Julia Winchester Eads.

Ruth was joined in marriage to Lester B. Gossage in 1949. Ruth grew to become an amazing Christian wife, mother, grandmother, cook, and caretaker to many. Anyone who ever ate her specialty; pinto beans, fried potatoes, and corn bread, knows what an excellent cook she was. Not only was she a good cook, she enjoyed it when several were around her table to enjoy the food she prepared.

Ruth remained a faithful church member at Fall Creek Baptist Church until her health failed and prevented her attendance in 2021.

She is survived by two children, Edwin Ray Gossage (Carol) and Carolyn Faye Anderson (Mike). She also survived by four grandchildren whom she lovingly cared for during their young lives; Julia Ann Pyles (Thomas), Kathy Susan Ellis (Ronnie), Kenneth Ray Gossage (Jacinda), and Christina Faye Anderson. Ruth was survived by five great grandchildren, Ty Guffey, Jordan Guffey, Hallie Pyles, Macy Gossage, Stephen Gossage, and four great great grandchildren, Jed, Ryder, Josey, and Nevaeh.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Julia Winchester Eads, her husband, Lester Gossage, and a brother, Odis Eads.

Ruth departed this life on June 30, 2026 and her sweet spirit, laughter, and love will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives who knew her.
