Velda Sue Bell Edwards was born on April 28th 1943 and passed away on May 29th, 2024 reaching the age of 81 years.

Velda was the youngest daughter born to Woodrow and Zella (Corder) Bell.

On October 15th, 1977, she was united in marriage to John Edwards. They shared five children, Christy (Boomer Hough) King, Terri Shepard, Johnny Baker, Gordon (Tina) Edwards and Angela (David)Tucker. They also shared eight grandchildren, Tish Hill, Krista (Carlos) Fresquez, Jamie (Eddie) Sifonte, Kyle Baker, William (Sarah) Stringer, Kristopher King, Daniel (Natasha)Tucker and Noah Edwards and five great grandchildren, Kinsley Hill, Abbey Hill, Kody Fallon, William Stringer, and Owen Stringer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, who she never stopped missing. Her parents, Woodrow and Zella Bell and two sisters, Jean Raye Bell, and Joan Faye Burton.

She is survived by her children, Christy, Terri, Johnny, Gordon, and Angela, her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren and three sisters, Anna Ruth (Orville) Correll, Vanon Foster and Wanda Twyford. As well as several nieces and nephews.

Velda enjoyed her career with Tupperware and received many awards along with one of the most distinguished awards for the company in being named in the top two hundred in sales in the nation.

She was a devoted member of the Newtown Baptist Church where she was a charter member. She went to fill in as the pianist one Sunday and decided she was needed there and stayed an active member until her illness no longer allowed her to attend.

We love our Mother very much and are better people because of her. She will be forever missed by us, but we know we will be reunited with her one day.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2024, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
