Vela Mae Hurt of Glasgow, KY was born November 12, 1926 in Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Saturday, October 13, 2018 reaching the age of 91 years. She was the daughter of the late William Leslie and Rona (Sexton) Floyd; who preceded her in death. She was married to Glen Hurt who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by: sons, Alvin Hurt and Ronald (Brenda) Hurt; grandchildren, Joe (Lakha) Hurt, Jason (Nicole) Hurt, Jaimie (Chris) McCaa, Ronda (Rocky) McCoy; great grandchildren, Pasit, Lena, Shawn, Jayla, and Erin.  She is also survived by:  sisters, Frances Knight, Carolyn (Carl) Coffey, and Margaret (Mitchell) Perry

She was also preceded in death by:  brothers, Marvin, Jim and Bill Floyd; and sisters, Christine (infant) and Marie (Roy) Davidson.

She was baptized at the age of 13 and was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 19, 2018 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Taylor's Grove Cemetery.
