Obituary

Thomas Ray Dishman, Sr., born August 27, 1941, to Thomas Hayden Dishman and Perna Jane (Bridgeman) Dishman, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of family, hard work, and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Mac Dishman, James Dishman, and Mary Hicks; his great-granddaughter, Kayelyn; his son-in-law, Ed Piercy; and his brothers-in-law, Hack Crabtree, Junior Bybee, and Luther Hicks.

Thomas was the proud owner of Dishman’s Oil and Dishman’s Car Lot in Slat, Kentucky. He was a jack of all trades who spent many years trucking and doing mechanic work, and was always up for a big trade. He was known for his strong work ethic and character.

On August 6, 1960, he married the love of his life, Rosie Napier, and together they built a family, raising three children: Thomas Ray (Mary) Dishman, Jr., Joann Piercy, and Barbara Dishman.

He is lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren: Thomas Ray (Tabbatha) Dishman III (T.J.), Veronica (Jason) Little, Victoria Ballentine, Edwin (Kaylee) Piercy, Joseph Piercy, Veranda Mills, Taylor Dishman, and Tyler (Kileah) May. His legacy continues through his 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his memory.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is also survived by his siblings, Emily Dishman Crabtree, Christine Dishman Bybee Goff, Alta Dishman McGinnis, and Phillip (Karen) Dishman, as well as his sister-in-law, Sue Dishman. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories among his many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will dearly miss him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2026, between 11 am and 1 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
