Sylvia Sue (Watson) McFalls, 71, of Monticello, KY, formerly of New Castle, IN, with family by her side, peacefully went home on Friday, May 29, 2015
A daughter of the late John "Otto" and Algie (Martin) Watson, she was born on September 12, 1943 in Monticello, KY. Sylvia devoted her life to our Lord. With a passion for helping others, she humbly displayed her love and touched all who knew her. After surviving breast cancer in 1978, she became a mentor with the American Breast Cancer Society. She worked for the Henry County Sheriff's Department until she retired in 2006. While there she taught and encouraged many people in the community. In 2003 she began Bible study courses at Sound the Alarm in New Castle, IN and obtained a license to be an ordained minister in 2004. Since moving to KY in 2008 she continued her ministry and worship at Harvest Time Tabernacle in Monticello, KY and House of Prayer in Clinton County, KY.
Sylvia is survived by one son, Billy J. (wife, Mary) McFalls of Monticello, KY; four grandchildren, Eric Young of New Castle, IN, Macie Spencer of New Castle, IN, Destinie (husband, Kaijan) Price of Monticello, KY, and Mason Brown of New Castle, IN; two great grandchildren, Rylan and Abel Price of Monticello, KY; two sisters and three brothers, Sevella Upchurch of Greenwood, IN; Ellis Watson of New Castle, IN; Catha (husband, Goble) Sutton, and John D. Watson both of Monticello, KY, and Galen "Reed" (wife, Donna) Watson of Science Hill, KY; several nieces and nephews; a loving pet, Harley Dean; along with a host of family and friend who mourn her passing.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Glen D. McFalls, who passed away on February 20, 2006; her mother, Algie (Martin) Watson; her father, John "Otto" Watson; and brothers, Ray Ola, Phil, Bill, and Jay Watson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will at the Mt. Summit Cemetery in New Castle, IN. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 3:00 pm.
