Shirley Alice Crabtree Hughes Hurt was born July 3, 1948, and departed this life Saturday July 29, 2023, reaching the age of 75 years. She was the daughter of the late Prentice and Mamie (Stringer) Crabtree.

She was a member of the Rectors Flat Baptist Church.

She married Glen Riley Hughes June 24th, 1961, who preceded her in death in 1981, and to this union 3 children were born Janie (Nickie) Bell, Tamara (Marty) Wallen and Christopher {Caitlin) Hughes. She later married Claude Hurt and to this union 1 child was born, Brandon Hurt.

In addition to her parents Prentice and Mamie Crabtree, and her first husband Glen Riley Hughes, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Howard, Haskel, Carlie, and Ray Crabtree and 1 sister Pauline Bridgeman.

She is survived by her husband Claude Hurt, 2 sons Brandon Hurt, Christopher Hughes, 2 daughters Janie Bell, and Tamara Wallen, and 1 sister Sue Dishman, 2 sisters-in-law Emily Crabtree and Alice Crabtree; 9 grandchildren Bryan (Kelli) Bell Shadrach Wallen, Martyca Wallen (Daniel Perdue) Shayda Wallen (Austin) Dobbs Tiara Hughes (Taytay Owens), Kayla Hughes, Cameron Hughes (Hailey Hudson), Braylon Hughes, Lylah Faye Hughes; 7 Great Grandchildren, Mikah Owens, Logan Perdue, Peyton Perdue, Colin Dobbs, Justice Bell Tarter, Madison Bell, Makenzie Bell; 5 great great grandchildren, Bryson Bell, Jaxon Bell, Zaylon Bell, Bella Winchester, Levi Thompson; and many nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her passing.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She loved gardening and canning and having good times with family. And here in her last days she enjoyed being spoiled with the strawberry shakes and sundaes we would bring her.
