Shirell Eugene Collis formally of Middletown, Indiana was born February 8, 1931 and departed this life Sunday, January 30, 2022 reaching the age of 90 years. He was the son of the late Luther H. and Grace B (Mohler) Collis.

Shirell was born, and grew up in Alexandria IN. He was a 1950 graduate of Monroe High School. After high school he joined the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Upon returning home he worked as a Machine Operator, and retired after 37 years from Delco Remy in Anderson Indiana.

Shirell was a member of the Murat Temple, Scottish Rite and the Middletown, Indiana Masonic Lodge # 271. Shirell loved going to Gun and Knife shows, as well as traveling. He was of Christian Faith, and attended Church when his health would permit.

He is survived by: his second wife, Flora Cynthia (Fox) Collis; one son, John (Patsy) Collis of Middletown Indiana; one daughter, Maryann Stewart and one sister Anna Bell Eubanks, both of Anderson Indiana, Barbara Simpson-Laws and Patty Rains who he claimed as Granddaughters of Monticello Ky, along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

Shirell was preceded in death by his parents, Luther H. and Grace B (Mohler) Collis.  His first wife of 49 years, Harriet Bushong Collis, who passed away November 30, 2004. Three brothers Garland, Louis L. and Dale L. Collis.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, 2022 between 10 am – 11 am at the Elk Spring Cemetery Shelter.  Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11 am at the Elk Spring Cemetery Shelter. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by our local DAV Chapter 105.
