Sadie Shepperd was born February 26, 1923 and departed this life Tuesday, September 16, 2014 reaching the age of 91 years. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Ermond (Dishman) Carter.

She is survived by: two sons, Pete (Helen) Rains of Somerset, KY and Jim (Loretta) Rains of New Castle, IN; one daughter, Hazel Troxell of Monticello, KY; and seven grandchildren, Rob Rains (and friend, Jennifer Upchurch) and Tina (Tim) York both of New Castle, IN, Bonnie Fredricks of Pendleton, IN, Josh (Beth) Rains of Sulfur Springs, IN, Donna (Seth) Brown of Columbus, OH, Mark and Wendy Rains both of Florida; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Albert and Ermond Carter, she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Fred Rains; her second husband, Alfred Shepperd; one son, Wendell Rains; and one grandson, Nathan Rains.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2014 after 11am in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
