Ruth Overton Miller Shearer was born December 31, 1926 and departed this life Sunday, August 23, 2015 reaching the age of 88 years. She was the daughter of the late Jay and Flonnie (Kennedy) Miller.

She married Jack Shearer on May 18, 1947 and to this union 3 children were born.

She is survived by: her husband, Jack Shearer; her three children, Carol (husband David) Vaughan of Smyrna, TN; Jerry Shearer of Lexington, KY; and Jackie (husband Don) Grisham of Cookeville, TN. She is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Warren (Kelly Pohl) Vaughan, Addie and Eliza; Maggie (Michael) Daniel, Savannah, Sierra and Sydney; Blake (Stephanie) Shearer, Taylor, Jackson and their mother/grandmother, Paula Shearer Givens; and Jennifer (Daniel) Pence and Henry; a sister-in-law, Flora Miller; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Jay and Flonnie Miller, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Allene Miller; and her brother, Robert Miller.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
