RUTH FRANCES GREAR GOVER, resident of Bronston, KY, died at 4:00 am, Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. Ruth was born at Mill Springs, KY on April 20, 1922, as the seventh and youngest child of Kitty and George Grear. Her siblings: Carl, Nell, Trosper, Mae, Conley, and Elmer, all preceded her in death. Her parents died prior to Ruth's teenage years and she lived with her sister Nell and her Aunt Emma Conley in Iowa. She married John K. Gover on March 25, 1940.
Ruth was well known for providing feasts for her family and preachers during summer revivals, her beautiful quilts which she gave generously to her beloved family, her extraordinary intelligence and wit, and her devotion to her husband, sons, and granddaughters. Her life could be characterized as a precious flower or the brightest star in the sky. She loved birds, trees, and all of God's creation.
She is survived by her husband, John, her sons, John Anthony and James, her daughters-in-law, Linda and Lois Jean, her granddaughters, Tamela Maria Patterson and Angela Ruth Gover, and her great grand-daughter, Maria Jean Patterson.
Ruth was a child of God and was a member of Simpson Memorial Methodist Church.
She will be available for viewing at Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home on Saturday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. She will be interred at Elk Spring Cemetery following services at the funeral home at 2:00 pm.
Visitation: Saturday, June 25 between 7 - 9 pm and Sunday, June 26 after 8 am
Funeral Service: Sunday, June 26 at 2:00 pm
Interment: Elk Spring Cemetery
