Ruby Turner was born November 9, 1925 and departed this life Sunday, July 10, 2011 reaching the age of 85. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Cecil (Russell) Harris and step father, Frazier Harris.
She was united in marriage to Ovie Turner on May 8, 1943 and to this union 2 children were born.
She is survived by: 2 sons, Phillip Bruce (Ellen) Turner and David L. (Kathy) Turner; 4 grandsons, Allen Bruce, Gordon Critt (Arden), Matthew Thomas (Toni), and Ryan David Turner; 3 great grandchildren, Nathanael Bruce, Isaac Gordon and Caroline Turner. She is also survived by: 3 half sisters, Edna Hughes, Bernice McClellan, and Velma Turner; and half brother, Junior Harris; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ovie Turner; mother, Ollie Cecil (Russell) Harris; step father, Frazier Harris; half sisters, Mazie Munsey and Lucille Smith; and half brother, Jimmie Harris.
She became a member of the Parmley's Grove Baptist Church on December 3, 1944 and was a member at the time of her passing.
Ruby was a hard worker. She worked at the Monticello Shirt Factory for many years. She enjoyed her work, farm, and family. She always looked forward to the Holidays and spending time with her family.
She was a loving mom, mother-in-law, grandma, and granny and will be missed very much by all.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 4 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10 am at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Marcum officiating. Burial will be in Parmley's Grove Church Cemetery.
