Roy Edward Koontz was born April 22, 1931 and departed this life Wednesday, October 10, 2018 reaching the age of 87 years. He was the son of the late Dilbert and Dora Lee (Barnes) Koontz.

He is survived by: Mollie Koontz; sons, Gerald (Peggy) Koontz and Kevin (Debbie)Koontz; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by:  two brothers, Benton (Wilma) Koontz and Gary (Julie) Koontz; four sisters, Lorene Barnett, Hazel Dick, Phyllis Neely, and Gwendolyn (Randall) Morrow; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother, Jimmie Koontz; three sisters, Earlene Barnett, Cloe Coffey, and Debra Koontz.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 12, 2018 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.  Military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
