IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roscoe
Upchurch
May 20, 1953 – November 18, 2022
Roscoe Upchurch was born May 20, 1953, and departed this life Friday, November 18, 2022, reaching the age of 69 years. He was the son of the late Roscoe and Montie (Criswell) Upchurch.
He is survived by: one sister, Lela Davis (Roger); and three brothers, Earl, Wade (Jeanie), and Mark Allen (Sandra) Upchurch; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Roscoe and Montie Upchurch, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Vickie Upchurch; three brothers, Jack, John Ralph, and David Upchurch.
Roscoe grew up in a sports loving family. He participated in intramural basketball and peanut league baseball but early in life Roscoe developed a love for a game we refer to as "Pool". He was very knowledgeable and possessed skills to earn him a reputation in his prime as being a "Master". He continued to love and play this game all of his life.
Roscoe joined the Military and was in the Army. He was stationed at Camp Page in South Korea in 1980.
Roscoe loved traveling and this led him into Truck Driving. This also required a great deal of skill. For example he could back a 48' to 53' long and 8 1/2 ft wide trailer into the designated parking spot, even if he had to do it around a corner or between 2 trailers. Roscoe received many recognitions for driving while working for Zipp Express.
Roscoe knew the importance of family and he and Vicki moved back to Monticello around 2008. At that time they attended Roger's Grove Baptist church. Roscoe had accepted Jesus as his savior and knew the importance of that relationship. When he drove truck he passed his time listening to the Bible on cassette. He most recently watched Elk Spring Valley Baptist church on TV and would attend in person.
Roscoe was happy to being released from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 17th after a weeks stay due to a heart attack and complications. He was in good spirits and talked with family and friends that evening and made plans for Friday. But plans were changed with his passing on from this world early Friday morning.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, between 11 am – 3 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 3 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
