Ronald Hughes was born April 23, 1954, and departed this life Friday, December 8, 2023, reaching the age of 69 years. He was the son of the late Ervin and Imogean (Lyons) Hughes.

On January 3, 1972, he married Dianne Neal and to this union two children were born.  The family settled in the Murl community, where they resided for over 50 years.

Following in his parents' footsteps, Ronald began farming.  He was also employed as a millworker at Gamble Brothers in Monticello for many years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with family.  He also loved to pitch a competitive game of horseshoe or cornhole.

On November 10, 2023, while in the hospital at Baptist Health Lexington, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by: his wife, Dianne Hughes; two daughters, Rhonda Hughes Boils (Ron) and Heather Hughes; and two grandchildren, Lindsey Boils and Brandon Boils. He is also survived by: two brothers, Larry Hughes and Gary Hughes (Sheila); and one sister, Linda Riddle (Roger); along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Ervin and Imogean Hughes, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Dishman.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, between 11 am – 2 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
