Robert Clarrence Abbott was born April 22, 1930 and went home to be with the Lord February 16, 2013 reaching the age of 82. He was the son of the late Willie and Vianna (Criswell) Abbott.

Robert was united in marriage to Stella Jean Upchurch on September 7, 1963. They were happily married for 49 years.

He is survived by: his wife, Stella Abbott of Monticello, KY; his twin brother, Roy (Christine) Abbott of Monticello, KY; his sister, Myrtie (Hoyt, deceased) Parsley of Campbellsville, KY; sister-in-law, Hazel Abbott of Somerset, KY. He is also survived by: his nephew, Wade Abbott of Lexington, KY; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Willie and Vianna, he was preceded in death by: one brother, Ralph Abbott.


Robert was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Monticello. He served as Sunday School Superintendent at both the old and new church.

A Veteran of the Korean War, he served his country proudly for 14 years in both the Army and National Guard.

The family will receive friends on Monday 02/18/2013 after 5 PM in the funeral home chapel, and on Tuesday 02/19/2013 from 9-11 AM at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM at the church. Military honors performed by the local DAV will follow at the Elk Spring Cemetery.
