Richard Dale Parmley was born April 6, 1951 and departed this life Wednesday, December 28, 2011 reaching the age of 60. He was the son of Thelma (Stephenson) Parmley and the late Narvel Parmley.

He is survived by: 3 children, Jason Dale Parmley of Louisville, KY, Jonathan Parmley of Monticello, KY, and Jane Sexton of Monticello, KY; and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by: his mother, Thelma Parmley of Monticello, KY; 1 brother, Curtis Parmley of Monticello, KY; and 3 sisters, Linda Shepperd, Lana Branscum, and Marilyn Muse all of Monticello, KY; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his father, Narvel Parmley, he was preceded in death by: 1 brother, Jeffrey Allen Parmley.

Richard loved the things of nature: walking in the woods, squirrel hunting, and fishing. He also loved art which included drawing and painting, one of his favorite pastimes. He loved music and playing the guitar. One of his favorite magazines was National Geographic. He loved history and could answer any question about the history of his country. Richard was a very giving person.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Ragan and Bro. Walter Bell officiating. Burial will be in Parnell Methodist Church Cemetery.
