Richard B. Chaplin was born October 19, 1971, and departed this life Sunday, October 5, 2025, reaching the age of 53 years. He was the son of the late Melvin and Sandra (Hicks) Chaplin.

He is survived by: 3 sisters, Penny Burris (Anthony), Pamela Hatten (Joe), and Mary Jent (EJ); special nieces and nephews, William Chaplin (Tara) Joshua Chaplin (Hailee Cole), Cody Burris (Kassandra Hodges),  Zachary Burris (Taylor Davis), Kaylee Burris, Nova and Zephyr Chaplin; 20 nieces and nephews; 28 great nieces and nephews; and his dog, Ginger; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Melvin and Sandra Chaplin, he was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Melvin E. Chaplin, Ricky Melvin Chaplin, and James Jessie Chaplin; and 3 sisters, Sherry Martin, Betty Jo Chaplin, and Martha Miracle.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2025, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Perdew Cemetery.
