Obituary

Reba (Ramsey) Bates (1922-2014) passed away October 25, 2014 after a brief illness in the presence of her loving family. She was the youngest daughter of the late John and Nora Ramsey. Reba was married to Clarence H. Bates (deceased) for over sixty years. They are survived by three children, Connie Bates (Monticello); Ronald (Amy) Bates, Florence, Ky; Lewis (Jennifer) Bates, Wilder, Ky. There are six grandchildren, Staci (Paul) Rumpke, Lt. Col. John (Laura) Bates, Dr. Nathan (Paige) Bates, Dr. Ronda (Beto) Garcia, Elizabeth Bates, and Julia (Raymond) Green and 15 great-grandchildren.

Reba was a life-long member of the Stop Church of Christ. She greatly enjoyed farm living and lived in the Hall Valley community for over sixty years. She greatly appreciated all her friends and neighbors, especially Junior and Charlene Raynes, and a special niece Ms. Evva Liptak. Other interest included sewing, cooking, flower gardening, and especially Wayne County Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats.

Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, receiving friends on Wednesday, October 29, 5:00pm to 9:00pm with funeral service October 30 at 10:00am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Nelson presiding. Burial services will follow at the Elk Spring Cemetery.
