Raymond "Jack" Hollars was born November 11, 1935 and departed this life Tuesday, April 22, 2008 reaching the age of 72 years. He was the son of the late Raymond and Nova (Crabtree) Hollars.

Survivors include his wife: Sue D. Hollars of Spiceland; four children: Tammy Hollars of Muncie, Tim (Lisa) Hollars of Laurel, Terril Gabbard (special friend: Jimmy Shelton) of Greenfield and Amy (Jon) Milner of New Castle; six grandchildren: Taylor Hunsberger of Muncie, Dakota Hollars of Laurel, Justin and Kayla Gabbard of Greenfield and Laurel respectively, and Dane and Luke Milner both of New Castle; one great grandchild: Ava Gabbard; three sisters: Lily Dane of New Castle, Susie (Ellis) Watson of Somerset, KY, Opal (Clay) Upchurch of New Castle; two brothers: Odie (Gladys) Hollars of Monticello, KY and Ralph (Gladys) Hollars of Spiceland; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister-in-law: Elva Hollars of New Castle; an aunt: Clarice Blevins of New Castle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother- Walter Hollars, and one sister- Irene Sullivan.

He retired from Avesta Sheffield Steel Company in 1996 after 40 ½ years of service and was a member of UAW Local #371 and was president of Retirees Group from Ingersoll Steel. He was very active in Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church where he had served as board member, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and many other capacities and is presently a member of South Side Church of the Nazarene where he had served as usher. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and enjoyed horses, camping, fishing, gardening, and outdoors in general.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
