Philip was born September 26, 1939, at home in Duncan Valley, a part of the Cooper community in Wayne County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Ray Morgan and Vena Bertram Morgan.

He is survived by his son, Adam Morgan and grandson, Tyler Morgan of Columbus, Ohio who were his pride and joy.  He is also survived by his sister, Marian Adams of Monticello, Kentucky and by Patti Davis, his loving fiancé of Liberty, Kentucky and her family of Jamestown, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Vena Morgan, a sister, Jackie Morgan and her son, Mark Cooper.

From an early age Philip enjoyed the offerings of nature on and near the family farm in Duncan Valley. His love of nature grew throughout his life.  He went on frequent walks and hikes in the southern Wayne County mountains.  Philip's appreciation for the outdoors flourished as long as his health permitted.  With friends he visited several national parks to hike and be close to the natural world. He considered his traveling and hiking friends as an important part of his life.

Philip graduated from Wayne County High School, Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky College of Law. Before entering the Law School, he taught school and worked in industry. After graduating Law School in 1973, he began a law practice in Monticello. During a 40-year legal career he practiced law, served as District Court Judge, Circuit Court Judge, and was appointed to be the first Family Court Judge in Wayne and Russell Counties. He served as judge for a total of 11 ½ years. He also worked as staff attorney for the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission during 9 annual legislative sessions.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello.
