Obituary

Pansy Louise (Kennedy) Pyle, 94, of New Castle entered her Heavenly home on October 3 at The Waters of New Castle. Pansy was born July 24, 1932, in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late

German and Molly Emerine Kennedy. Though Pansy worked outside the home—spending 20 years at Henry County Memorial Hospital, and later managing the cafeteria at Lewisville, then the first cafeteria at Tri High School—her heart was always with her family. She took immense pride in everything she did, from quilting to sending cards to those she loved. Pansy never met a stranger, and welcomed everyone with true Southern hospitality, always having food ready, just waiting for someone to stop by for a visit. She loved entertaining, playing cards, tending to her flowers, and canning fruits and vegetables. Long after her retirement, former hospital co-workers would still come to her house for breakfast. Pansy also had a gentle affection for the neighborhood cats, feeding and loving all that meandered nearby. Above all, she placed family at the center of her life, instilling strong values and leaving behind a cherished legacy of keeping loved ones close and bringing everyone together for the holidays.

Pansy is survived by: children, Tom Pyle of New Castle and Donnie (Debbie) Pyle of New Castle. Five grandchildren: Courtney Dick, Shana (Jeremy) Williamson, Doug (Amanda) Pyle, Jacob (Katherine) Pyle and DeAnna (Jeff) Watterson. Eight great-grandchildren: Zyler and Brynn Williamson; Caleb (Breanna) and Connor (Maddy) Pyle; Tara and Adria Pyle; Lauren and Caroline Watterson. Pansy is also lovingly remembered by Andrea “Andy” Randolph Searle, who was like a daughter to her.

Pansy was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Wilburn S Pyle; daughter, Franka Dick and son-in-law Don Dick; daughter-in-law Pamella Pyle; 6 brothers: Garland, Gordon, James, Melvin, Gilbert and Randolph Kennedy and 4 sisters: Laura Crabtree, Edith Lester, Vera (Beda) Upchurch and Juanita Catron.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 8, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 115 W US Hwy 40, Lewisville. Pastor Steve Arnett will officiate. Burial will follow at South Mound, West Lawn Addition, in New Castle.
