Owen Farmwald, of Monticello, KY, peacefully passed away at his home at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 9 days, on Tuesday, August 22, 20224, at 7:06 A. M.

He was born May 13, 1940, to Levi and Elizabeth (Yoder) Farmwald at Nappanee, IN. He was a faithful member of the Pleasant Ridge Mennonite Church.

On November 8, 1962, he married Anna Mae Knepp, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2009.

Leaving to mourn his passing are 8 sons and 5 daughters, Marlin, married to Louise Miller, of Belleville, Arkansas, Delbert, married to Dorothy Sommers, of Monticello, Kentucky, Vera, married to Steven Sommers, of Cincinnati, Iowa, Dean, married to Elva Petersheim, of Harford, Kentucky, Norman, married to Kathryn Byler, of Auburn, Nebraska, Vernon, married to Karen Yoder, of Greyson, Kentucky, Leanna, married to Allen Byler, of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Daniel, married to Doris Yoder, of Plummer, Idaho, Esther, married to Janathan Stutzman, of Albany, Kentucky, Steven, married to Ada Schlabach, of Monticello, Kentucky, John Earl, married to Katherine Miller, of Crossville, Tennessee, Loretta, married to Orville Freeman, of Albany, Kentucky, and Rachel, married to Melvin Byler, of Kingman, Indiana; 76 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by 1 brother-in-law, John Knepp, of Shipshewana, Indiana; 2 sisters-in-law, Polly Farmwald, of Topeka, Indiana and Cora Helmuth, of Nappanee, Indiana.

On May 27, 2011, he married Vesta Ropp Miller, who preceded him in death on December 11, 2019.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant siblings, Amos, Amy, and Esther; 2 brothers, Leroy and Melvin; 3 sisters, Katherine, Martha, and Rachel; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024, between 1 pm – 4 pm and 6 pm – 8 pm at the Pleasant Ridge Mennonite Church.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 10 am at the Pleasant Ridge Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Mennonite Church Cemetery.
