Opal Piercy Upchurch was born January 15th, 1912 in the Slickford Community of Wayne County, KY and departed this life Thursday, November 14th, 2002, reaching the age of 90 years. She was the daughter of Charlie Piercy and Anna Hicks Piercy.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Upchurch and to this union one child was born.

She is survived by one daughter-Edith York of Monticello, KY, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother-Elbert Piercy of Columbia, KY, along with several relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest and one sister-Oma Piercy Carter.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Steubenville Baptist Church Building Fund.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Saturday, November 16th, 2002 in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Sunday, November 17th, 2002 at 2 PM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funerl Home.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
