Opal Smith Turner was born November 4th, 1930 and departed this life Friday, February 8th, 2008 reaching the age of 77 years. She was the daughter of the late Zelmer Smith and Mary Young Smith.
She was united in marriage to Mancel Turner and to this union eight children were born.
She is survived by three sons-David, Ronnie and Jerry Turner, all of Monticello, KY and four daughters-Nina Hancock, Earlene Burke, Sue Jones, all of Monticello, KY and Anna Ruth Craft of Glasgow, KY. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers-Ernest and Elmer Smith, both of Monticello, KY, three half-brothers-Albert Lowe of Nancy, KY, Bill Lowe of Illinois and Ray Smith of Russell Springs, KY, one sister-Ona Mae Walker of Monticello, KY and one half-sister-Darlene Mounce of Somerset, KY; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents-Zelmer and Mary Smith, her husband Mancel Turner and one daughter-Mary Lou Turner.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: The family will receive friends after 5 PM on Sunday, February 10th, 2008.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Monday, February 11th, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Anson Perkins and Bro. Danny Burks officiating.
Interment: Burial will be in the New Sandusky Chapel Cemetery
