Opal Hurd was born June 28, 1921 and departed this life Sunday, March 1, 2009 reaching the age of 87 years. She was the daughter of the late Ewell and Elizabeth (Lair) Thompson.

She is survived by: 3 sons- Dale (Sherry), Mac (Glenette), and Billy (Dana) Hurd, 1 daughter- Pat (Robert) Twyford, daughter-in-law – Ruth Ann Hurd and 6 grandchildren- Ashley (Bradford) Southwood, Michelle and Mallory Hurd, Brandon, B. J., and Byron (Amy) Hurd. She is also survived by a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband- Art Hurd, 1 son- Bobby Hurd, and 4 brothers- Clarence, Les, and Herman Sloan, and Charlie Thompson.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


Visitation: Tuesday, March 3rd after 5 pm
Funeral Service: Wednesday, March 4th at 11 am
Interment: Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery
