Olen Parmley was born October 29, 1937 and departed this life Monday, April 7, 2014 reaching the age of 76 years. He was the son of the late Miles "Bill" and Martha (Humble) Parmley.

He married Mary Edith Upchurch on December 19, 1959 (54 years). To this union was born one son, Steven Dewayne Parmley, who passed away January 3, 2010.

He is survived by: his wife, Mary Parmley; daughter-in-law, Kathy Parmley; and three grandchildren, Ivan, Anya, and Kalyssa Parmley. He is also survived by: one brother, Don Parmley; and three sisters, Eva Whitt, Jean Brit, and Lela Daniels; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

One sister, Mary Smith, and four brothers, Robert Parmley, Johnny Parmley, James Parmley, and Glen Parmley preceded him in death.

He was a loving husband, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Wheeler and Bro. Eugene Dick officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
