Ocie Marie Carter, age 82, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Marie was born April 18, 1935; the daughter of Odie and Elsie (Edwards) Atkinson.

On December 24, 1957, Marie was united in marriage to Wallace Carter, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage. To this marriage three children were born: Vicki, Carolyn and Joe.

Marie was saved and baptized at age 13, and was a life-long member of Keen's Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved the Lord and was a dedicated member to the church. She took care of the card ministry for many years and attended as long as her health allowed.

She is survived by: three children, Vicki McGinis, Carolyn (Anthony) Coop and Joe (Linda) Carter; four grandchildren, Virginia McGinnis Jones, Kimberly (Jessie) Doss, Joshua Coop, and Sarah Coop; three great-grandchildren, Izabelle Jones, Jasper Jones and Baby Doss due in 2018. She is also survived by: three brothers, Bill (Lois) Atkinson, Harold (Linda) Atkinson, and Rev. Harvey (Christine) Atkinson; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Wallace Carter; her parents, Odie and Elsie Atkinson; one brother and his wife, Kenneth & Bonnie Atkinson; two sisters, Joyce & husband, Hearvie Peercy and Barbara Atkinson; one great grandchild, Emilia Doss.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, 2017 between 5 pm – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Taylor's Grove Cemetery.
