Nita Mae Shelton was born October 26, 1932 and departed this life Monday, January 27, 2020 reaching the age of 87 years. She was the daughter of the late Linza Ray "Champ" and Pearl (Rhoades) Guffey.

She married Wendell Leonard Shelton and to this union four children were born.

She is survived by: one daughter, Kathie Hutchison; two sons, Max and Michael Shelton; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by:  three sisters, Ruth Humble, Vivian Stonecipher and Wanda Lane; and one brother, Kenny Guffey; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Champ and Pearl Guffey, she was preceded in death by:  her husband, Leonard Shelton; one son, Mark Shelton; two brothers, William "Mack" Guffey and Wes Guffey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2020 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery in Clinton County.
