IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nina Evelyn
Mcginnis
August 17, 1927 – May 22, 2019
Nina Evelyn Davis McGinnis was born at Slickford, KY on August 17, 1927 and departed this life Wednesday, May 22, 2019 reaching the age of 91 years. She was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Davis and Ollie (Carter) Davis.
Nina is survived by her sons: Chuck McGinnis of Campbellsville, Barry (Jewel), Arnold (Mary), Gary (Joy), Paul (Lisa), Randy and Lanny McGinnis all of Monticello; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, June Dishman and Billie Whitaker of Monticello; one brother, Jerry Davis of Harrison, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Bill and Ollie Davis, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley McGinnis; one daughter, Shirley Gale Jeffries; two sons, Namon and Dwight McGinnis; two sisters, Lillie Buck and Irene Piercy; four brothers, Ray, Ralph, Bob, Butch Davis; one son-in-law, Henry Jeffries; and two daughters-in-law, Geraldine Coomer McGinnis and Mildred Coomer Richardson McGinnis.
Nina was a homemaker, who grew a garden, canned, dried, and froze food for her large family. She made clothes for her family and others. Nina also helped with the family business, McGinnis Logging. She did all the bookkeeping as well as preparing and serving meals for the workhands.
We feel safe in saying she had the God-given "gift of hospitality." She loved cooking for family and friends as long as she was able to do so.
She was "given" (from God) several songs over the years and they are often sung in holiness churches throughout the country. Nina had a powerful voice and you would often find her singing when you went to visit.
She was of the Pentecostal faith, baptized in the Name of Jesus, filled with the Holy Ghost and faithfully attended the Apostolic Church as long as she was able. She held fast to her belief and will now spend eternity with her Lord Jesus.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 24, 2019 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Dishman Cemetery.
