Nell Fairchild Hughes was born February 3, 1932 and departed this life Friday, January 21, 2022 reaching the age of 89 years. She was the daughter of the late John Ellis "Bob" and Stella (Ball) Fairchild.

She is survived by: one son, Nelson (Lisa) Elam; one daughter, Barbara Elam Claborn; eight grandchildren, Chris, Jill, Mike, Jordan, Janna, Sarah, Jessica and Garrett; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Jackson; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Hubert Hughes; one son, Larry Elam; and two brothers, David Hale and Robert Gale Fairchild.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the New Sandusky Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to:  Hospice of Lake Cumberland or New Sandusky Cemetery Fund.
