Nancy Matthews was born April 30, 1945, and departed this life Thursday, June 4, 2026, reaching the age of 81 years. She was the daughter of the late Lincoln and Pearly (Rigney) Jenkins.

She is survived by: four children, Larry Clingerman (Sheila), Terry Clingerman (Shana), Cheyanne Brown (Jody), and Josh Matthews (Kelsey); grandchildren, Kendall Clingerman (Mischa), Cody Clingerman, Jonna Roberts (Lucas), Dekota Hubbard, Dawson Hubbard, Waylon and Mason Matthews, Dawson Crouch, and Kaleigh Pierce (Joe); and great grandchildren, Jaxon and Ramsey Roberts, Willow Clingerman, Hendrix Burke, and Tate Pierce.

She is also survived by: two sisters, Linda Bell and Collene Jenkins; one brother, David Jenkins; and Rondal Matthews, whom she called upon in times of need; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Lincoln and Pearly Jenkins, she was preceded in death by: six sisters, Mary Jones, Hilma Parmley, Geneva Jenkins, Shirley Jenkins, Barbara Morgan, and Marie Jenkins; and one brother, Wallace Jenkins.

Nancy had many home hobbies, including planting flowers, sewing, front porch sitting and talking with anyone who stopped by. But above all, her most loved thing to do was to feed everyone their favorite home-cooked meal. Including a few of her family’s favorites, such as pinto beans, cornbread, fried taters, cabbage, and salmon patties.

She was the caretaker of her family and was the steadfast guardian of those she loved. Her door was always open for those who needed her. She was a loving mother, mamaw, sister, aunt, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 8, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
