Nancy Bates was born October 23, 1954 and departed this life Monday, January 21, 2013 reaching the age of 58. She was the daughter of the late James Theo and Daisy Edith (Melton) Bates.

She is survived by: 4 brothers, Charles, Thomas, Sam and Danny Bates; 4 sisters, Thelma Lovell, Edith Wesley, Shirley Lundy, and Mary Upchurch; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, James and Daisy Bates, she was preceded in death by: 4 brothers, William, Bobby, and James Phillip Bates and one who died in infancy; and 1 sister, Josephine Kellogg.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Burks officiating. Burial will be in Dodson Cemetery.
