Evelyn Brook Coleman, and Hunter Charles Coleman and two great-great grandchildren, Bain Martin Teater and Brooks Andrew Teater. She is also survived by: one brother, Calvin Kennett (Bonnie); one sister, Virginia Richardson (Walter Lee); and one sister-in-law, Jean Britt.

In addition to her parents, Rollen and Earlene Kennett, she was preceded in death by her son, Denzil Kay Hart.

Mildred will be remembered for her gentle kind spirit, genuine love and abiding concern for her family, church, and friends. She was a member of The New Charity Baptist Church. She loved her church and was active as long as her health would allow. She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the church at an early age.  In her earlier years, she taught Sunday school and worked in Vacation Bible Schools and enjoyed her church ministry.

Mom was multi-talented as a great cook, seamstress, crochet, quilting, gardening, growing flowers, and her work ethics were extraordinary with traditional Sunday big meals and family gatherings at the kitchen table. Her passion was celebrating birthdays and making that special requested birthday cake, just for you.

Later, she worked for Wayne County Schools as a cook for Bell Elementary Schools for many years and prior to that, worked at Monticello Manufacturing Co. For anyone that worked and knew her, you found a gem as a friend.

She was more than a mom, more than a grandmother, more than a great- grandmother, an aunt, a sister-- she was pure light.  She was a strong woman and became well known as Granny Hart. She was a cat lover by nature and her favorite dog was Mr. Wobbles. She was a great teacher to her grandchildren and nephews, from driving cars to digging in the dirt and going fishing. Granny Hart had the biggest heart. She was rare, and a true pearl, with her memory to live on within our hearts and soul.

Service will be private for family only. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
