Obituary

Mildred Decker was born May 20, 1916 and departed April 16, 2014 at the Wayne County Hospital. She lived a long life of 97 years being born in Illinois, living in Florida, and the last 50 years in Kentucky.

She was a housewife, mother of 8 children and teacher by Christian example; always putting God first in her life and trusting him for all her needs. After receiving Jesus as Savior and she lived a Christian life serving as Sunday school teacher, mission supporter, and other things in her church.  She is a member of Monticello Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, two sons, Fred and Ed, and two daughters, Norma and Betty.  She is survived 3 daughters, Doris Brown (Robert) of Monticello, Ruth Clanton, of Florida, Sandy Whitaker of Monticello; and 1 son, Charles Decker (Sandra) of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2014 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
