Obituary

Mildred Smith Dalton was born July 5, 1915 and departed this life Tuesday, April 12, 2011 reaching the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Larry L. and Georgia (Marcum) Smith.

She was united in marriage to John Wendell Dalton and to this union 2 children were born.

She is survived by: 1 son, Steven Smith Dalton; 1 daughter, Jane Dalton; 1 grandchild, Samuel Todd Dalton; and 1 great grandchild, Steven Spencer Dalton; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Larry and Georgia Smith, she was preceded in death by: her husband, J. Wendell Dalton; and 1 sister, Barbara Smith Baker.

Mrs. Dalton, a 1931 graduate of Monticello High School, was a local business woman who co-owned and operated Dalton's Grocery and Firestone Store. She later retired from South Kentucky RECC. Mrs. Dalton was a Wayne County Hospital Volunteer, Wayne County Library Board Chairperson, and a charter member of the Monticello Woman's Club. A loyal member of the First Christian Church, she was a Cradle Roll Member and a Sunday School Teacher for 72 years.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5 – 8pm in the chapel of the funeral home and Saturday, April 16th at the First Christian Church from 9 – 11am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11am at the First Christian Church with Bro. Harlan Ogle and Bro. Mel Gresham officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
