Melvin C. Barnes

Melvin C. Barnes was born November 23, 1938, and departed this life Sunday, August 23, 2026, reaching the age of 87 years. He was the son of the late Arvil Barnes and Nila (Smith) Barnes Gehring.

He is survived by: his son, Tony Daniels (Lynn); and daughter, Melva Bolin; sisters, Deborah Zimmerman (Richard) and Nancy Hatmaker; and 6 grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Jessie (Stringer) Barnes.

He was a loving father, brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Parmleys Grove Cemetery.
