May Belle Hicks was born February 26, 1932 and departed this life Friday, September 18, 2020 reaching the age of 88 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Virginia (Vaden) Grisham.

She married Millard Hicks and to this union 7 children were born.

She is survived by: two sons, Joe Hicks and Scott Hicks; three daughters, Sylvia Ferrell, Susan Anderson, and Dawn Redman; one brother, Mac Grisham; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Henry and Virginia Grisham, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Millard Hicks; two sons, Millard Hicks and Bobby Hicks; five brothers, Henry, Albert, Kenneth, H.C., and James Grisham; six sisters, Catherine Woodard, Reba Gwaltney, Alberta Norton, Betty Jean Simmons, Ann Grisham, and Virginia Maggard; one grandchild, Jeremy Hicks; and one great grandchild, Ethan Foster.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2020 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's Office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance. You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines. No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.
