Obituary

Mary Eva Lovelace Williams entered into her eternal rest on May 8, 2013 in Bowling Green, Kentucky after a long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Kenneth Lovelace and Effie Morris Lovelace formerly of Monticello, Kentucky.

Mary was blessed by a 55 year marriage to Chaplain (RET.) LTC Walter K. Williams who was born and raised in Touristville, Kentucky. She lived a very interesting and full life as a military spouse. Walter, Mary and their two children, Douglas and Teresa lived in many different states including Kentucky and Georgia. While her husband was deployed to Vietnam, she and her children lived in Clarksville, Tennessee where they spent time with her parents and attended church nearby where her father pastored. Also, while her husband was deployed to Korea, she and her children lived in Staten Island, New York. She took pleasure in spending time wither children knowing that deployment can take its toll on military spouses and families. Stateside tours include California, Texas, New York, and New Jersey as well as three years in Germany.

Wherever assigned, as a military wife, she was very involved in volunteer work such as American Red Cross, Program Chairman for the Protestant Women of the Post, Officer's Wives Club, school board meetings, Girl Scouts, Sunday school and Chapel Choir.

She attended Massy Business School in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Wagner College on Staten Island, New York majoring in Education and Psychology. Mary taught school for a while in New York and New Jersey and alter attended the Graduate School of Social Work at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She developed an interest in Gerontology and worked in a nursing home and also at Rutgers Mental Health Center. She later worked for 10 years in the New York City area from 1982 – 1999 was self-employed in real estate management.

Mary is survived by her two children, Douglas K. Williams, (Tony Estevez) of Longmeadow, Massachusetts and Teresa Steiner of Bowling Green, Kentucky. She is also survived by six grandsons, Peter Walter Steiner (Laura Sivado) of Nashville, Tennessee, Brian David Steiner of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Jonathan Kenneth Williams-Estevez, Anthony Alexander Williams-Estevez, Aladi Douglas Williams-Estevez, and Christian Jose Williams-Estevez all of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and one loyal pet named Pepper.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kenneth Williams, her father, Kenneth Lovelace, her mother, Effie Morris Lovelace, her sister, Brenda Jean Lovelace, and her brother, Kenneth David Lovelace.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 am at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
