Mary Magdalene Smith was born May 8, 1934, and departed this life Wednesday, April 30, 2025, reaching the age of 90 years. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Ora (Stinson) Neal.

She married James David Smith and to this union three children were born.

She is survived by her children, Dianne Hughes, David (wife Katrina) Smith, and Sandy Smith; three grandchildren, Rhonda Boils (Ronald), Heather Hughes, and Kristen Adams (Donnie); two great-grandchildren Lindsey Boils and Brandon Boils; and one sister, Jewell Rednour; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Otto and Ora Neal, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Smith, and siblings, Alonzo Neal, James Hobart Neal, and Jessie Mae Atkinson.

She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She was baptized at a young age. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 4, 2025, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
